We Came To Dance
STORIES OF QUEER JOY IN SUPPORT OF CLUB Q
Amphibian Press welcomes you to stand up with us as we support Club Q through storytelling. On November 19, 2022, an LGBT community hub and nightclub called Club Q was attacked by a shooter in Colorado Springs. Five people were murdered. Someone tried to destroy not just individual queer folx’ lives, but a safe place for the LGBT community. Someone silenced the music everyone in the club had come to celebrate with gunfire. We can’t let that happen. So, let’s tell stories of queer joy, queer music, and queer dance, and let’s donate all the proceeds to Club Q!
WHAT WE LIKE: gender and culture-diverse characters, found family, community solidarity, stories of love, comfort and hope. Grieving is okay to portray, as long as it’s shown in the context of grief in community and support.
WHAT WE DON'T LIKE: nihilistic or hopeless narratives, portrayal of bigotry that reinforces or applauds it, violence, toxic relationships. Don’t send anything that plays into the Bury Your Gays or Crying In The Closet tropes please.
